Food And Tapas Culture

Everyone has heard about the Spanish food, kitchen and tapas but there is much more than that.

When you´re on holidays and go to new culture and country (like Spain) – the experience is always personal (and unique) and therefore not everyone likes the same things or tastes.

And like we all know, sometimes your first experience for example to paella might not be that good, but after a second try in somewhere else (and made by the other cook) – you may become a “paella lover”.

Interesting facts about Spanish food culture

As a minor detail, our family is not addicted to paella, but generally speaking, we fell in loooove to Spanish food, traditions and culture on our first trip to Spain in 2006.

These following facts have nothing to do with paella or a certain food recipe, but to Spanish kitchen in general.

Did you know that…

Olive oil production

Lot´s of people think that Italy and Greek share number one position in the world´s olive oil production. Well, the truth is that Spain (with almost 45 % share of the whole market) is the number one what comes to olive oil and they produced more than 1.150 million tons in 2017.

To be exact – that is two times bigger than in Italy! Way to go Spain : )

World vineyards

Did you know that every 1 of 6 vineyards in the whole world is located in Spain? That´s a lot 😯

Tapas

We have heard many times this common misunderstanding when somebody believes tapas is a certain food (for example a cheese or something).

…but actually, tapas is not a type of food.

It is more a way of eating it. It´s a Spanish way of eating and living.
